- Comprehensive Ranking System

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used by the Canadian government to evaluate and rank candidates in the Express Entry immigration system. The CRS score is based on various factors, such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other additional criteria.

  1. Core Human Capital Factors (Maximum 600 points):

    • Age (Maximum 110 points)
    • Level of Education (Maximum 150 points)
    • Official Language Proficiency (English and/or French) (Maximum 136 points)
    • Canadian Work Experience (Maximum 80 points)
  2. Additional Points (Maximum 600 points):

    • Skill Transferability Factors (Education and Foreign Work Experience)
    • Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
    • A valid job offer from a Canadian employer
    • Provincial Nomination
    • French Language Skills
    • Sibling in Canada
  3. Additional Points for a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination or a qualifying offer of arranged employment (Maximum 600 points):

How to Calculate the Total CRS Score:

The total CRS score is the sum of the points in the Core Human Capital Factors, Additional Points, and PNP/Offer of Employment Points.

Do I get more CRS points if I apply with a spouse?

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points are awarded differently, depending on whether the applicant is married or single.

If a spouse or common law partner is listed as non-accompanying in an application or is already a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, the applicant will earn points as a single applicant.

If an applicant is married and has an accompanying spouse, the spouse should provide language results and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for all post-secondary education. This will enable a candidate to secure the maximum number of points when including a partner on their application.
