Ludhiana’s Biggest International Education & Travel Fair 2026
2 April 2026

If the examiner has to struggle to hear you, your score will be affected. This directly impacts your Fluency and Coherence, and once that drops, your overall Speaking score decreases too.
Tip: Speak clearly and confidently. Maintain occasional eye contact with the examiner—but avoid staring, as it may come across as impolite in Western culture.
The IELTS Speaking test is not a survey. The examiner wants to hear you speak in detail. What matters more is how you express your ideas, not just what you say. Strong answers include clear ideas, logical structure, and appropriate vocabulary.
Tip: Always expand your answer. Say yes/no, then explain why, when, where, or how.
Sometimes candidates hear the question but lose focus and start talking about something only loosely related—or completely different.
Example: If asked whether you prefer tea or coffee, don’t start discussing your favorite foods.
Why it matters: You’ll lose marks in Fluency and Coherence, and even if other criteria are strong, your overall Speaking score may drop (e.g., from 7 to 6.5).
